KIND WORDS FROM PAST PARTNERS

Don't just take my word...

I worked with Mo on two of the most important searches of my career, and I could not be happier with the experience and the results. Mo was truly a partner for me and my team as we navigated our first-ever all-remote search for a senior library leader. Mo took the time to truly understand our priorities and needs, and developed a unique remote recruiting and interviewing plan that worked for our organization, reflecting our values of inclusivity and openness. Mo was with me every step of the way, offering guidance, insight, advice, expertise, and endless encouragement. Feedback from candidates -- even the ones we ultimately did not hire -- indicate that Mo was a terrific coach and advocate for each individual through the search process, and that she was a wonderful representative for our organization. Her creativity and integrity won me over from the start, and despite the high stakes pressure of conducting two critical searches nearly simultaneously, we had tremendous fun as well.

My first encounter with Mo was when she contacted me regarding a newly created position at Ohio University. At the time, I was getting quite a few recruiting calls, and somehow she got through my usual courtesy redirects and convinced me to become a candidate. I still don't really know how she did it--some kind of Jedi mind trick! Anyway, what struck me as I went through the process was the care she took to get to know me, my professional interests and unique capabilities that might make a good match with the hiring institution, and to share with me the strengths and real challenges in the role she was recruiting me to. She is unlike any recruiter I have worked with in my career. Her personalized approach to getting to know the candidate, her honesty in sharing the reality behind the job posting and the recruiting team, and her attention to process to ensure the experience itself is optimized for all involved, are all transparently in service of finding the best candidate for the real need of the organization and at finding the best organizational opportunity for the candidate.

It turns out that when you're working with Mo, the hiring process is just the beginning. After the search was completed, and I accepted the position, I assumed that would be the last I would hear from her. But about six months into my new role, she called me. Just to check in, she said. She wanted to make sure that the job was a good fit for me. It was. And then, about six months later, I heard from her again. And we've been doing this now for six years, only now I am on occasion the one reaching out to her! As much as I have benefitted from coaching and mentoring in my career, I still find every conversation with Mo a leap forward in my focus and clarity of purpose. She listens to understand, she gets to the core issues, she coaches with questions (and, when necessary, challenges), and she gets to a commitment to action better than any executive coach I have encountered.

I cannot recommend her highly enough as a recruiter, and as an executive coach.

I am in a unique situation to appreciate Mo’s skills and abilities.  I have worked with her as a candidate, client, recruiting partner, and recently as an executive coach. In all four situations, she has shown great passion and integrity for her work and the relationship she builds with her partners. As a result, I’ve come to rely on her expert advice and creative problem-solving solutions. I am excited to see how Mo will bring her expertise and skills to her new firm. I will happily call on Mo again to recruit new senior team members and executive coaching services for myself and other leaders. Mo is a true partner and someone I can trust to recruit top talent into critical roles and strategize effective organizational development needs.

Mo Lashendock is my first choice for executive recruitment. My experience working with Mo began when I served as a Chief of Staff to the provost and was responsible for executive level searches for deans, vice presidents, and other senior academic and administrative leaders. I worked with many consultants and search firms. Mo was the perfect partner for clarifying the expectations, refining position profiles, recruiting strong, diverse applicant pools, and supporting searches through selection, negotiation, and hiring. Mo was with me and our search committees all the way.

Mo is a professional who leads with equal parts heart and hard work. One of Mo’s greatest strengths is her ability to recognize institutional needs and wants, while gently challenging when expectations become misaligned. Her well-developed network and "match-making magic” help her clients access high-performing talent who may not have recognized or applied for new opportunities without her intervention.

As an executive and leadership coach, Mo is a natural. Her broad experience and dedication to her clients' best interests shine through. She balances forward-focused optimism with realism and calibration. I appreciate and seek her guidance when making significant career related decisions. In terms of follow-up and follow-through, Mo Lashendock delivers every time.

I have known Mo for many years and we have worked on a great number of searches together throughout the years. Her expertise and instincts always play a big part in bringing our projects to a successful completion.  Mo’s ethics and integrity are above reproach. She brings fresh perspective to everything she does, and her self-awareness enhances any search she takes on! Mo has a comprehensive knowledge of higher education and understands what it takes for leaders to be successful - she is insightful, thoughtful in her approach, and collaborative.  I have complete trust in her and always enjoy the time we spend working together.  I can't say enough about Mo.  I recommend her highly as a colleague, collaborator, and human being.

The name of this firm could not be more accurate. Mo acts as a true partner with her clients from the beginning of the job search process to the end. When I came to Mo, I was uncertain about which direction I wanted to pursue; I only knew I was looking for a change.  Mo helped me think through many possibilities and find a way forward. At every step of the job search, she was there, assisting me with my resume, reviewing my letters of interest, preparing me for interviews, and providing much needed encouragement and advice. Mo is not only excellent at giving expert guidance; she is also empathic and kind, making her easy to relate to and trust. For all of these reasons, Mo is wonderful to work with. She helps clients discern their strengths and translate them into marketable assets; and her mentorship gets results in the form of real job opportunities, as my own case attests. If you are looking for a fresh start but are uncertain where to begin, ask Mo Lashendock for help. Mo will be your true partner, and together you will chart a course towards a brighter future, just as we did.
